Shoe Revolt And Wordless Wednesday too!

WW. . . . . . . "Don't Worry ~ Be Happy??!!"

_____________________________________________________________

"SHOE REVOLT" is giving a shout-out!! Are you a "Shoeista"?? Help this new for-profit company raise $$$ to help "kick human trafficking of young girls to the curb"~ by donating new and lightly used women's shoes for resale!!!

According to Ateba Crocker (founder of Shoe Revolt) & Meg Rayford (Chief Shoe Raiser) . . . . . . "Profits will be used to directly fund transitional housing, to create scholarship opportunities, and to provide mentoring and support for human trafficking victims. We'll gi
ve new life to these shoes that will, in turn, help give new life to so many young girls. Shoe Revolt will tear down symbols of inhumanity and build them back up into symbols of freedom, creativity, and empowerment!"

Half the proceeds will also go to "GEMS" ("Girls Educational & Mentoring Services") ~ an organization that helps girls rescued from the commercial sex trade. And FYI, any donated shoes from companies that do not meet the standards of manufacturing that Shoe Revolt requires, will be recycled and remade by the victims as part of the
ir rehabilitation!!)

Please help Shoe Revolt get the word out! Donate your Shoes ~ Do a post on your Blog ~ Share the info on Facebook ~ Tell your local newspaper about Shoe Revolt ~ Share with all your friends! The online shoe boutique at Shoerevolt.com will open on august 1st for purchases ~ See you there!!

Do they do kids shoes? I don't think any of my shoes could qualify as lightly worn. I am pretty rough on shoes.

Guy shoes are always discriminated against.

Funny picture, though I can't stand Jim Carrey. The photo reminds me of a movie, Saving Grace which is extremely funny if you've not seen it.

Didn't realize this was all one post. I've never heard of this charity; but will check it out. I usually put my shoes with my clothes when donating to Kidney Foundation and AmVets; but this cause is one not many know about and it's so terribly sad.

Thanks for posting, I'll check it out.

Be careful---this is NOT a charity. As the article states, it's a for-profit online shoe store. GEMS is an awesome, reputable nonprofit organization, but there is no mention of Shoe Revolt on GEMS's website. There seems to be a growing number of "charities" out there who aren't doing any real charity work--just riding the coat tails of other nonprofit's work.

Thanks for sharing! The woman who started Shoe Revolt was just featured in the paper and it seems the reporters did a fairly good job of checking her out?? They are not part of GEMS, but have just decided to give some of their proceeds to GEMS. I will check around a little more though!

Hi,

I'm the Founder of Shoe Revolt. I just wanted to confirm that I do know Rachel of GEMS (letter on my website endorses us, which was written by Rachel) and work with other organizations like Courtney's House (you can contact the founder- who can vouch for Shoe Revolt also) opening in Virginia next month. I'm a for profit company but I'm also recognized as a member of the reputable Fractured Atlas Fiscal Sponsorship program https://www.fracturedatlas.org/site/fiscal/profile?id=3154

That's Ateba for setting the record straight. Anonymous may be right that some "charities" are "just riding the coat tails of other nonprofit's work", but Shoe Revolt is the real deal. Shoe Revolt is trying to make a difference for girls being trafficked, as is GEMS. Both are worthwhile.

Shoe revolt is an innovative way to fight against human trafficking. At least there is a company trying to help and not just ignore this growing problem!
