Wish you were on an Island?. . . Me too!

If you aren't on an island. . . guess you'll have to make do with "Aloha Friday" ~ Yes, it's time for this week's edition! You know how I love Fridays. . . the start of my weekend! "An Island Life" has created this fun and fabulous meme for all of us ~ If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants too! (And also, island hop on over to "An Island Life"
My question for this week:
What are 1 or 2 things that you are really trying hard to do on a regular basis to help "Save the Environment and to Go Green"?
(My answer is: I am a very faithful recycler. I try to only use paper bags at the store, or better yet to take my own bag with me - love the ones from Trader Joe's ! Try to use cloths when cleaning and not so much paper towel! Use products to clean that are environmentally friendly!)

I just really started a BIG effort to go green this year. This is what I do:
1. Reusable bags
2. Homemade Dishwashing & Laundry detergent
3.Recycling Bins (I got 2 more-one doesn't realize how much they truly can recycle)
Great question!

I'm trying to go green and eat healthier. We are trying to get away from toxins in general.

I recycle all of the products that I can. I am also starting to use eco-friendly green cleaning products in my home.

Recycling here but I can't say I am the best at that. I do try but it seems like my one little bin is always full.

We are trying to use "real" plates instead of paper and have changed to Brita filtered water instead of bottled. Saves us money too!

We have a million reusable bags that we always bring with us when shopping. We have also switched all of our lightbulbs to the compact fluorescent and keep our thermostat way low.

I use the energy star light bulbs

We use the energy star bulbs, unplug electronics when not in use & I usually use my cloth bags @ the commissary.

I am trying to make sure to cut the lights and electricity when possible to save on energy.

(paper bags are actually worse than plastic for the environment so definitely go with the reusable bags if you want to cut your environmental impact)

I have re-usable shopping bags. I keep them in the car so I don't forget to use them.

I'm gradually switching to all natural cleaning products.

I'm making 1 meatless dinner each week. I read somewhere that if you do this it has just as much benefit on the environment as if you own a hybrid vehicle.

Doing double duty here from Aloha Fridays and Entrecard... I am not very good at Green... BUT I do use cloth bags at the grocery store. I use Shaws and Walmart bags and I find they hold alot more than plastic bags too!

Instead of using plastic at the market, I have canvas grocery bags that I re use when grocery shopping. Turn off electrically appliances when not in use.

I am hoping to have a outdoor clothes line put up this year. In my old neighborhood with a Home Owners Association, there was a restriction that would not allow us to 'hang out our ''clean'' laundry, let alone any dirty laundry. LOL...

So, one would be not using my clothes dryer as much. The second would be, cutting down on junk food and the wasteful containers they come in. Not withstanding all the junk ingredients in junk food, the things I can't pronounce and probably not ingest. Etc.

Thanks for giving me a question to keep me thinking.

I've been using my own reusable bags when I go to the grocery store.

We've made the official switch to real dishes instead of paper and plastic. And, we're preserving electricity by turning off lights when we aren't using them. Good question!

Great question..cuz, yesterday at work I took a box that was being thrown away; taped light green paper on one side; used some scrapbooking letter "Recycle Please" and am the office recycler of water bottles and plastic forks, spoons, etc. It's in the lunch room next to the trash. I got tired of seeing everyone throwing away their water bottles, etc. So I decided it was one thing I could do... :)

We try to reuse as much as possible and I try to use natural cleaning products. It seems that the harsher chemicals give me migraines.

I love love love using Microfiber cloths for cleaning they are my new cleaning tool for EVERYTHING!
We recycle too, but our city is quite small, so we don't have the option to recycle everything, but we do what we can.

I'm not great at this, but in the past year or so, I've started reusing plastic bags at the grocery, switching to the new light bulbs, consolidating errands, taking fewer long hot baths (more not so hot showers :)
